2 kg heroin seized from field in Sriganganagar
Around 2 kg heroin has been seized from a field in the border area of Sriganganagar district.
Superintendent of Police Gaurav Yadav said a packet of heroin was found in a field of Chak 17-S village, in which 2.79 kg of heroin was found in two packets. Its value in the international market has been estimated at around Rs 10 crore. A case has been registered against unknown suspects under the NDPS Act and the investigation has been handed over to Sub-Inspector Surinder Rana.
According to police sources, Pakistani smugglers dropped heroin packets in Indian territory by drone last night, which the Indian smugglers could not collect. No more packets were dropped because Pakistani smugglers, according to information, send more heroin packets only when they get a photo of the heroin dropped by them on WhatsApp.
Officials said that after getting information about suspicious packets lying in the field, police and intelligence agencies cordoned off the area. Even after waiting for several hours, none came to collect the heroin packets, and so they seized the packets.
The intelligence agencies are busy collecting information about all people who came from outside in the last two-three days to the surrounding villages.
