2 kg narcotics, drone seized

The Amritsar (Rural) police have seized over two kg of narcotics smuggled from Pakistan, besides a drone in two separate incidents on Friday.
SSP Amritsar (Rural) Satinder Singh said they got a tip-off that Mahinder Singh of Bhagupur Bet village had links with Pakistan-based smugglers and was involved in cross-border drug peddling through drones.
The SSP said Mahinder had hidden 1.6 kg of heroin in the cattle shed of his house situated on the Vehra road. He said they arrested Mahinder and registered a case under the NDPS Act against the accused.
In another incident, the police and the Border Security Force carried a joint search operation at Maude village situated along the border.
The search led to recovery of a drone along with heroin weighing around 519 gm. The police have registered a case under the NDPS and the Aircraft Act at the Gharinda police station.
