Abohar, March 3

A woman was killed and 14 others were injured as the private bus they were travelling in rammed into a parked bus outside Kumas Jattan village on the National Highway-52 in Rajasthan at 8.30 am on Tuesday.

The injured were shifted to the Civil Hospital in Laxmangarh, where Anuja Sharma (58) of Katehra village in Abohar was declared brought dead. Others undergoing treatment have been identified as deceased’s husband Sushil Sharma, Shrawan Kumar Jhunthara and his wife Rimple, Rajesh Gupta, Praveen Kumar, Sanjay Mittal, Meena, Vidya Devi, Rachna Mittal, Swati Gupta, Bajrang Lal, Vikram, Chanda and Dhananjay.

The bus was coming from Abohar and heading towards Khatu Shyam Dham in Rajasthan’s Sikar district when the incident happened.

A team from Laxmangarh police station had reached the site and called for an ambulance. Officials said six patients were referred to Jaipur in evening. Anuja’s body was handed over to her siblings after autopsy.

In another incident, a woman from Faridkot was killed and four others were injured as the Scorpio van in which they were travelling in reportedly collided with a bus today near Chak 3RB village near Padampur in Sriganganagar.

Padampur SHO Vikram Tiwari said Gurdeep Kaur had died on the spot, while Pritpal Singh, Vinod Kumar, Maya Devi and two minor children were shifted to the Civil Hospital in Padampur. The victims were returning to Faridkot from Rawla when the incident happened. Both vehicles were impounded and a case has been registered.
