Chandigarh, April 18
Thwarting attempts by foreign-based anti-national elements to disturb peace in the state, the Intelligence Wing of the Punjab Police on Monday arrested two aides of fugitive gangster-turned-terrorist Arshdeep Singh, alias Arsh Dalla.
Those arrested have been identified as Harsh Kumar and Raghav, both residents of Kot Ise Khan in Moga. The police have also recovered a foreign-made MP-5 gun along with 44 rounds from their possession. DGP VK Bhawra said in an intelligence-led operation, a team of the State Special Operation Cell (SSOC), Amritsar, arrested the two.
He said during investigation, Harsh revealed he came in contact with Arsh via Gurpreet Singh of Shadiwala village in Moga, who was arrested in January with a consignment of grenades and arms. After Gopi’s arrest, Arsh established contact with Harsh through encrypted apps and motivated him to work for him, said the DGP, adding Arsh had also sent funds to Harsh on at least two occasions. The present consignment had also been arranged by Arsh, he said. SSOC Amritsar AIG Sukhminder Mann said further investigations were being conducted to ascertain the channel through which the accused received the weapon.
A case has been registered under relevant Sections at SSOC, Amritsar, and both accused will be produced in court for police remand. — TNS
