During a routine patrol, Mining Officer Arvind and his team spotted buffalo carts transporting sand. Upon noticing the officials, the cart owners fled, abandoning the carts on the spot.

The illegal mining operation was allegedly taking place at a closed government quarry in Salemshah village, with suspicions of involvement from local individuals.

Officials noted that although a barrier had once been placed by the mining department to curb illegal mining, it was recently removed, leading to sand extraction.

The seized carts have been parked at the Sadar Police Station, and unidentified individuals have been booked under Section 21(4) of the Mining Act for their involvement in the illegal mining operation.
