Ludhiana: 2 shooters among four held in Rs 5-cr extortion call case

Gangster Hari Boxer made calls to US-based Dakha NRI after firing incident at latter’s house

The Ludhiana rural police have claimed to have arrested accused, including two shooters, who had fired at the house of US-based NRI Jagmohan Singh, alias Goldy, at Pandori village near Dakha in the wee hours of July 29.

Rajasthan-based gangster Hari Boxer, who is said to be hiding abroad, had allegedly sent his shooters to intimidate the NRI and demanded Rs 5 crore from him.

Hari is said to be an active member of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang and has been reportedly making extortion calls to NRIs and businessmen of Punjab at the behest of fugitive gangster Anmol Bishnoi.

Sources said NRI Jagmohan Singh was in the USA when the firing took place at his house in the wee hours of July 29. His wife Amandeep Kaur, children and mother-in-law were at home, but did not suffer any injury in the incident.

As per police sources, a few hours after the firing, gangster Hari Boxer made calls to the NRI and demanded Rs 5 crore from him. The gangster told the NRI that he was a close aide of fugitive gangster Anmol Bishnoi and if extortion money was not given to him, they would get him killed. Following the incident, the NRI''s wife lodged a police complaint.

The arrested accused were identified as Jaswinder Singh, alias Ambarsaria, of Tarn Taran, Gaurav Nirwal, alias Gaurav Dadupuria, of Sirsa, Haryana, Kamaljit Singh, alias Gandhi, of Sirsa, Haryana, and Narinder Singh, alias Ninda, of Dhat village, Dakha, Ludhiana.

Gaurav and Kamaljit had opened fire at the house. The shooters came from Haryana and committed the crime in Pandori village.

Dhat village resident Narinder did a recce for the shooters.

Complainant Amandeep Kaur, the NRI''s wife, told the police that her mother had the habit of waking up early in the morning. On the day of the incident too, she woke up at 3 am and started praying. As she went to the kitchen to make tea, she suddenly heard gunshots being fired. When she looked through the window in the kitchen, some masked motorcyclists were opening firing at the house.

The CCTV at the house had captured the incident.

Recently, Hari Boxer had also reportedly demanded Rs 10 crore extortion amount from a businessman in Tarn Taran.
