Moga, February 22
Two youths reportedly died of drug overdose in separate incidents at Daulewala village in Dharamkot subdivision of the district.
In the first incident, Jaspreet Singh (25) of Kahan Singh Wala village died of drug overdose on the intervening night of Friday and Saturday. His brother Harpreet Singh told the police that his brother went to his sister’s house in Zira on Monday. From there, he went to Daulewala village where he was suspected to have consumed “chitta”.
In another incident, the local police recovered the body of a youth from the village. The deceased youth has been identified as Bhola singh of nearby Jalalabad village.
The police were tightlipped on the cause of his death, but locals alleged that he was an addict and died of drug overdose.
The police sent the body to a government hospital for a post-mortem examination. Further investigations were in progress.
