The Bhikhiwind police have booked more than 200 persons, mostly SAD workers, for Tuesday’s firing incidents. They were booked under Sections 307, 186, 148 and 149 of the IPC and Sections 25, 27, 54 and 59 of the Arms Act.

SHO Sarabjit Singh said no one had been arrested as all managed to escape from the spot. The police said 15 accused had been booked by name and more than 200 were unidentified. The identified accused are Amarjit Singh, Rinku, Aman Sharma, Harjinder Singh, Vine Malhotra, Surinder Pal and Upkardeep Singh.

The election for the 19 wards of the Patti Municipal Council and 13 wards of the Bhikhiwind Nagar Panchayat is scheduled for February 14.

The administration made strict security arrangements on the last day of filing of nomination papers today. According to information, 111 papers have been filed in Patti and 66 in Bhikhiwind.
