A 23-year-old youth of Daulatpura village, who studied at a college in Sriganganagar, was shot dead by unknown persons on Sunday night near the India-Pakistan border.
The deceased has been identified as Pradeep Tarad. Today morning, some labourers saw the body and informed the police.
Superintendent of Police Gaurav Yadav and FSL team reached the spot to collect the evidence.
Matili Rathan SHO Subhash Bishnoi said the incident took place between 12:30 and 1:30 am.
Pradeep’s family members said he had gone to his farm, which is 3 km away from the International Border, on a motorcycle to inspect his crops.
As there is a night curfew up to 500 metre from the Zero Line, passes are issued by the Border Security Force to farmers to work in the fields.
Acting on a complaint of deceased’s brother, the police have registered a case against unknown persons.
A medical board of three doctors has been constituted for the post-mortem examination, said the police.
