26 judges elevated in Punjab

The Punjab and Haryana High Court has approved the promotion of 26 Civil Judges (Senior Division) and Chief Judicial Magistrates to the position of Additional District and Sessions Judges.

The list of promoted officers includes judicial officers from across the state, ensuring a more robust judicial framework in Punjab. Among them are Aprajita Joshi (SBS Nagar), Manpreet Kaur (Hoshiarpur), Pratima Arora (Tarn Taran), Raj Pal Rawl (Hoshiarpur), Gurbir Singh (Amritsar), Preeti Sakhuja (Ludhiana), Rajesh Ahulwalia (Gurdaspur), Jasbir Singh (NRI cases), Harvinder Singh (DLSA Secretary, Ludhiana), Rashpal Singh (Ferozepur), Pushpinder Singh (Mansa), Mahesh Kumar (Bhatinda), Aman Sharma (Pathankot), Amrish Kumar (Muktsar), Ranjeevpal Singh (Gurdaspur), Gagandeep Singh (Bhatinda), Jagbir Singh (Fatehgarh Sahib), Navdeep Kaur (Patiala), Manav (Pathankot), Dipti Goyal (Fatehgarh Sahib), Ekta Uppal (Sangrur), Gagandeep Kaur (Muktsar), Pamelpreet Grewal (Fatehgarh Sahib), Radhika Puri (Ludhiana) and Amandeep Kaur (Fazilka).

These promotions have been made against 25 existing vacancies, with an additional anticipated vacancy set to arise on April 1, 2025. The appointments, however, remain subject to the right of their seniors.

The Registrar General of the High Court has formally communicated the decision to the Punjab government, urging swift action in issuing appointment orders. This development is expected to enhance the efficiency of the judicial system by expediting case resolutions and strengthening the legal apparatus in the state.
