In a major achievement on the first day of the New Year, the local police arrested three criminals in two separate cases.
In the first case, the Phagwara city police have arrested two members of a gang of thieves and recovered stolen items, including four mobile phones, cigarette packs and a motorcycle from their possession today.
Superintendent of Police Rupinder Kaur Bhatti said that the arrested suspects were identified as Amandeep Singh, a resident of Rameshwar Colony, New Model Town, Jalandhar, and Rajinder Kumar, a resident of Bhargo Camp, Pichori. They were caught following a complaint by Neeraj Bakshi, a store owner. Bakshi reported that after locking his store for the night, he returned the next morning to find several items, including branded cigarettes, missing. Acting swiftly, the police arrested the suspects and recovered the stolen goods.
In a second case, the police nabbed a young man involved in thefts at two different locations, recovering cash amounting to Rs 1.85 lakh. The accused, identified as Manak, a resident of Chhaj Colony, was found to have stolen Rs 1.65 lakh from the house of Rajesh Syal and Rs 20,000 from another house belonging to Pravesh Sahni.
Superintendent of Police Bhatti stated that the police are continuing their investigation in both cases, and further legal proceedings against the accused are underway.
