The local police arrested a man from the grain market on Thursday night and reportedly seized three country-made pistols and three live cartridges from his possession.

His accomplice, however, managed to escape under the cover of darkness. ASI Surjit Singh said following information, the police raided the spot and arrested Varun Sabharwal, a resident of Suraj Enclave at Rajiv Gandhi Vihar in Jalandhar.
The accused who has absconded has been identified as Karan of Tarn Taran. The police has registered a case under various Sections of the Arms Act.
