3 dead in car-bus crash due to fog
Three members of a family died and two women were injured when a Bolero vehicle collided with a state-run bus near Sriganganagar today. The condition of the injured is stated to be serious.
The accident took place near Chak 16-BB on the Sriganganagar-Padampur road in the morning. A Rajasthan Roadways bus was going from Sriganganagar to Bikaner, while the Bolero vehicle was coming towards Sriganganagar.
According to the police, the accident took place when the bus collided with the Bolero while overtaking a vehicle near Chak 16 BB. The accident took place due to fog.
The deceased have been identified as Badal Singh (45), his wife Swaranjit Kaur (44) and his elder brother Gurcharan Singh (50). The women, identified as Paramjit Kaur and Karamjit Kaur, were admitted to a private hospital in Sriganganagar with serious injuries.
The police said the vehicles were involved in a head-on collision in which the Bolero vehicle was badly damaged and the bus was damaged from one side.
Pargat Singh, a resident of Shergarhia Dhani village, said his uncle Jagjit Singh of Takht Malana village in Muktsar, had passed away. Badal Singh, Swaranjit Kaur, Gurcharan Singh, Paramjit Kaur and Karamjit Kaur had left for Muktsar in their Bolero vehicle for his last rites.
The bodies of the three deceased have been handed over to their family members after post-mortem, the police said.
