3 held for bid to rob bank in Malerkotla
Malerkotla, February 4
The Malerkotla police claimed to have nabbed three miscreants who had allegedly attempted robbery at Thandi Sarak branch of Yes Bank after snatching keys from the cashier at gunpoint on Thursday evening.
A 32 bore pistol, a smartphone and SUV used in the crime were seized from the accused identified as Arif Khan of Rose Avenue Malerkotla, Satish Kumar of Khehreej village in Lucknow district (UP), and Laxman of Dabwali.
Malerkotla SSP Harkamalpreet Singh Khakh said that the accused had been arrested from different places on the basis of information collected by watching footage of CCTV cameras installed at the bank and surrounding areas.
The SUV-borne suspects had stopped Rajat Singla, cashier of the bank, by hitting his motorcycle when he was returning home on Thursday. The trio forced Singla — at gunpoint — to allow them entry into the branch following which they made a futile attempt to break open the cash chest.
Having received information on Friday, the police constituted a special team that succeeded in identifying and arresting the accused.
