Over four years after a police official was gunned down at Abohar by carborne assailants, a district court has sentenced three to life imprisonment.
The court of Fazilka Additional Sessions Judge Ajit Pal Singh has sentenced three individuals to life imprisonment and the fourth accused in the case has been awarded five-year RI under the Arms Act.
The case pertains to the murder of Gurvinder Singh, who was serving as a Sub-Inspector in Punjab Police. He was shot dead by carborne assailants in Basant Nagar near the Sitto Gunno road in June 2020. The FIR was registered at the Abohar city police station under Sections 302, 201, 120B, 34 of the IPC and Section 25 of the Arms Act.
After examining all facts and witnesses, the court found Namandeep Godara, Vikramjit, and Vijay Lakshmi guilty under Sections 302, 120B, and 34 of the IPC and sentenced them to life imprisonment along with a fine of Rs. 10,000 each. Failure to pay the fine will result in an additional two-year imprisonment.
