The Ludhiana police arrested three men wanted in an extortion case following an encounter on Dhandran Road here in the wee hours of Friday.

The three were injured in the encounter and hospitalised.

Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Amandeep Singh Brar said three CIA teams were patrolling on Dhandran Road and when they intercepted a car its occupants started firing at the police. In retaliation, the police also fired, he added.

The accused had demanded Rs 50 lakh from Karan Preet Singh, the owner of an immigration firm.
