Two days after US-based NRI Sukhchain Singh was shot at by two armed assailants in front of his family members in Daburji here, the city police commissionerate in a joint operation with Hoshiarpur police arrested three persons from Hoshiarpur on Monday.

Police Commissioner Ranjit Singh Dhillon confirmed the arrest of three persons and said that they were being brought to Amritsar.

A manhunt was launched by the city police for arresting the shooters identified as Sukhwinder Singh alias Sukh Grenade of Kapurthala and Gurkirat Singh of Jalandhar. They were hired by Sukhchain’s first wife’s family members to kill him to avenge her death. She had died by suicide in December 2022.

The trio was hiding in Lala Lakshman Das Sood inn.

Till now, eight persons were arrested in the case.

Among those arrested include Sukhchain’s father-in-law Sarvan Singh of Tanda, Hoshiarpur. Sarvan is father of his first wife.

Others those arrested were identified as Jagjit Singh and Chamkaur Singh, both residents of Thath village in Tarn Taran; Digambar Atri, the hotel owner, and Abhilash Bhaskar of Katra Ahluwalia, hotel manager.

The Police Commissioner said that the recoveries of weapons were being effected from the shooters.
