A three-tier security arrangements have been put in place to secure electronic voting machines (EVMs), containing fate of six Chabbewal bypoll candidates, kept at strong rooms in Rayat Bahra Educity on Chandigarh Road.

The Returning Officer-cum-ADC Rahul Chaba said 205 EVMs had been kept in three strong rooms with 90 each in two of them while the third one contains 25 EVMs. During the polling, two EVMs — booth no. 50 and 75 were replaced.

He said the final voting percentage in Chabbewal stood at 53.43 per cent. Out of 1,59,432 voters, 85,177 exercised their right to franchise. The women voters outnumbered the men by a slight margin.

As many as 42,585 (50.88 per cent) male exercised their franchise whereas the number of female voters stood at 42,591 (56.25 per cent). Chaba visited the strong rooms and the counting centre to review security arrangements made for the counting of votes on November 23. The counting of votes would start at 8 am.
