Ferozepur, July 29
Five persons, including three women, have been booked for attacking the police team during the cordon and search operation (CASO) carried out near Chhibe Wala village in Guruharsahai.
Investigating Officer Bhupinder Singh said the accused had been identified as Lachhman Singh, his wife Kashmir Kaur and daughters Manjit Kaur and Paramjit Kaur and another person Jaswant Singh.
He said the accused attacked the police party while it was conducting raid at their residence. “I was leading the police party. When we reached at the house Lacchman Singh, the accused attacked us with sticks. Paramjit attacked the accompanying woman cop and dragged her from her hairs. Others helped Lacchman escape from the spot,” said the Investigating Officer.
SP (D) Randhir Kumar said though the main accused fled, the police nabbed Manjit and Jaswant. “The accused have been booked under Sections 121, 132, 221, 262, 351, 190 and 191 of the BNS at the Guruharsahai police station,” he said. “We have launched a manhunt to nab the remaining accused,” he added.
