3 women farmers on way to Mahapanchayat in Haryana killed in Punjab road accident
Three women activists of farmer organisation, BKU Ekta Ugrahan, were killed on Saturday and 36 others sustained injuries when the bus they were travelling in met with an accident at Barnala.
The bus, carrying more than 50 activists of the BKU (Ugrahan), was on its way from Kotha Guru village in Bathinda district to Tohana town of Haryana.
The occupants of the bus were going to Tohana to take part in the “Kisan Mahapanchayat”, organised by Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM) there.
The three deceased women were identified as Sarbjit Kaur (55), Balbir Kaur (67) and Jabir Kaur, all residents of Kotha Guru village (Bathinda).
The injured were taken to Civil Hospital, Barnala, for treatment, from where about a dozen injured persons were discharged after giving treatment.
In another road mishap today morning, five activists of BKU (Sidhupur) sustained injuries when their bus met with an accident near Barnala jail. The occupants of the bus were going from Dallewala village to Khanauri to participate in the ‘Kisan Mahapanchayat” at Khanauri border morcha, organised by SKM (Non-political) and Kisan Mazdoor Morcha.
