A day ahead of the scheduled protest by computer teachers against the Aam Admi Party (AAP) in Delhi, the Punjab Government on Monday announced to release additional 33 per cent dearness allowance (DA) to all regular employees of the Information and Technology Education Society (PICTES) working as computer teachers. The government decision is likely to benefit around 5,000 such teachers.

“The DA will go up from 148 per cent to 181 per cent with effect from January 1, 2025, payable with the salary of January 2025,” said Education Minister Harjot Bains.

Protesting under the banner of Computer Adhyapak Union, the computer teachers said they were entitled to 92 per cent hike in DA against 33 per cent announced by the state. Rejecting the increase, they said they would go ahead with the January 22 protest against AAP in Delhi.
