37K wheat bags missing from godowns, 3 officials suspended

A District Food and Supplies Officer (DFSC) and a Food Safety Officer (FSO) have also been chargesheeted in the case

Two Assistant Food and Supply Officers (AFSOs) and an Inspector have been placed under suspension with immediate effect and chargesheeted in connection with the shortage of 37,433 bags of wheat at private godowns hired by PUNGRAIN in the district. A District Food and Supplies Officer (DFSC) and a Food Safety Officer (FSO) have also been chargesheeted in the case.

The orders in this regard were issued by Rahul Tiwari, Principal Secretary Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, wide a letter dated October 6, 2025.

Earlier, during the checking of godowns belonging to TR Agro Foods and Beverages LLP and Sachdeva Ice Mills by teams of Deputy Director (Field), wheat bags were allegedly found missing.

The officials who have been chargesheeted are Raj Rishi Mehra (FSO) and Himanshu Kukkar (DFSC), while those suspended with immediate effect and chargesheeted are AFSOs Samarjit Singh and Shama Goyal, besides Inspector Yograj Singh.

The Punjab Food and Civil Supplies Department has ordered all district Food and Supply Controllers (DFSC) to conduct physical verification of stock in their areas.
