Six suspects arrested by the city police in connection with arms and drug smuggling yesterday were remanded in four-day police custody by a local court here today.
The Amritsar city police had confiscated from them 10 pistols, including three sophisticated Austria-made 9 mm Glock pistols smuggled from Pakistan. According to the police, the seven .32 bore pistols seized by the police were also of very high quality and apparently were not country-made.
Those arrested were Vinod Kumar, alias Rangeela of Putlighar, Yuvraj Singh and Surkhap Singh of Roriwala border village, Jugraj Singh, alias Jaggu, of the Plah Sahib road area, Amritpal Singh of Sherpur village in Batala and Prabhdeep Singh, alias Harman, of Mumrai village in Batala.
Meanwhile, the police have launched a manhunt to arrest mastermind Karanbir, a resident of the Meerakot area here.
