The state government will organise the National Livestock Championship and Agri Expo-2020 in collaboration with the PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry at PUDA Ground in Batala from February 27 to March 2.
Divulging details, Deputy Director, Animal Husbandry Department, Moga, Gurmit Singh said the Punjab Government and the PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry were jointly organising the 11th edition of this five-day mega fair for farmers, livestock owners, veterinarians, nutritionists and various other stakeholders from food processing and agro-sciences.
Gurmit said during the event, focus would be on ways and means to achieve more productivity and profitability for everyone and contribute to achieving higher GDP growth in the sector.
He further said the 11th National Livestock Championship-2020 would be held on all five days. Various competitions, including milking and breed contests, will be conducted under the supervision of experts.
The owners of the winning animals in the milking and breed contests will be given cash prizes worth Rs 2 crore along with certificates. The competition is aimed at encouraging owners to learn scientific and technical know-how in care and management of their animals to enhance the milk yield and improve their breed quality.
Gurmit said a series of technical sessions had also been planned during the expo, which would run concurrently. Reputed academicians, scientists, policymakers and other experts will address various sessions, sharing the latest technological advancements in the fields of agriculture and livestock rearing that could help farmers increase productivity, he added.
