5 held for blackmailing pick-up van driver with obscene videos
Five individuals, including a woman, have been arrested in Hanumangarh for blackmailing a pickup van driver after coercing him into a house, where they filmed obscene videos and extorted money from him.
The Hanumangarh Superintendent of Police, Arshad Ali, said the arrests were made following an investigation into a complaint filed by the victim, Kalu Singh. He said the accused were identified as Priyanka (24), Ram Pal Nayak (20), Dinesh Meghwal (20), Mukesh (23) and Rajesh Nayak (30).
The victim told the police that he received a call from a woman who claimed she needed to transport household goods. After agreeing on the fare, he was asked to meet her at a location near the grain market at 5 pm.
She instructed him to drive to a nearby house, where several people were already waiting. His clothes were forcibly removed and Rs 9,700 was stolen from him, along with his mobile phone.
The woman then began making obscene advances towards Singh, while the others filmed and photographed the incident.
Desperate to escape, Singh managed to transfer Rs 15,000 via a QR code to a contact; however, the perpetrators insisted on an additional Rs 55,000. Fearing for his life, Singh managed to leave and return home.
The next day, Kalu Singh reported the incident to the police. Acting on his complaint, a case was filed under Sections 308 (2) and 308 (6) of the BNS.
