The police have arrested five suspects under the Arms Act, with four apprehended in Sriganganagar and one in Abohar.
Superintendent of Police Gaurav Yadav said Pala Ram (24) of Duda Khichad and Mukesh alias Gabber (24) of Chak 10-SPD village were arrested after they were found in possession of .32-bore country-made pistols, one each.
In another operation, the Kotwali police seized a country-made pistol from Mohit Thakur (25) of Purani Abadi. The police also arrested Mukesh Raghav (23) of Chakk 9-LNP village, who is accused of sourcing weapons from Madhya Pradesh to sell them in the border area.
In Abohar, the police arrested Gurjeet Singh, alias Jeeta of Raniwala Muktsar, after seizing two country-made pistols and eight live cartridges from him. A case was registered against Jeeta at the city police station in Abohar under Sections 25, 35 and 59 of the Arms Act. He was presented in court and remanded to police custody.
