Moga, February 6
On the directions of Moga Deputy Commissioner Sandeep Hans, a special team of the district administration rescued five children, who were left abandoned, from the grain market in Baghapurana town and sent them to Shri Balaji Prem Ashram-cum-Nikhil Vidyalaya, Ludhiana, in hopes of them getting a conducive environment to grow and become better human beings.
As soon as the district administration got to know that six children were housed somewhere in the Baghapurana grain market, a team led by Baghapuran Sub-Divisional Magistrate Swaranjeet Kaur, comprising officials from the Child Protection, Police and Health Departments, acted swiftly and rescued the five children, while one could not be rescued, as he could not be located.
The rescued children were produced before the Child Welfare Committee, which directed the team to send the children to a children’s home after their medical examination.
District Child Protection Officer Paramjit Kaur said the children were sent to Shri Balaji Prem Ashram-cum-Nikhil Vidyalaya in Ludhiana. She also appealed to people to inform the district administration, if they spotted the sixth child anywhere in the district.
