52 Punjab cops dismissed from service on corruption charges: DGP

Punjab Police DGP Gaurav Yadav on Wednesday said 52 police officials had been dismissed from service on corruption charges.

Addressing a press conference here, Yadav said the dismissed cops ranged from constables to inspectors.

The dismissals were recommended by the district SSPs in a state-wide exercise in the past 10 days.

The exercise followed directions from Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann to check corruption and misuse of power in the police department.

The CM had said that he had received complaints about fake FIRs being registered by cops to extort money.
