Ferozepur: Six persons have been held for allegedly attacking an ASI while he had gone to arrest an accused in a case related to alleged thrashing of a health worker. The accused have been identified as James Bhatti, Shammi Bhatti, Billa, Ajju, James’ wife Rani and Billa’s wife Jyoti. oc

1,360-kg poppy husk seized

Abohar: The police seized 1,360-kg poppy husk from two vehicles and arrested three persons near Abohar. SP Preeti Jain said the consignment was worth Rs45 lakh. They intercepted a truck in Manaksar and seized 1,180-kg drug. In another case, the police seized 180-kg drug worth Rs7 lakh. oc

Abohar/Sriganganagar: A café owner, Manvinder Singh Khaira (25), was arrested on the complaint of a teacher of Fazilka, who alleged that three car-borne miscreants molested her, tore her clothes and pushed her into a drain when she resisted a bid to kidnap her. oc
