Jalandhar, January 14
The Nawanshahr police have arrested seven members of an 11-member inter-state gang of drug peddlers and thieves along with six motorcycles, five cars, gold and various stolen gadgets. The gang members had committed thefts and robberies in Punjab as well as Himachal Pradesh.
While four of the gang members (caught with 300 gm heroin) had previously been arrested and sent to jail, seven more members have been arrested by the Nawanshahr police. The police said facing previous cases of theft and snatchings, many gang members met in jail, after which they formed a gang. The gang targeted secluded homes, gyms, vehicles parked outside homes in the night. The members sold stolen vehicles to their associates, who used these for drug smuggling.
SBS Nagar SSP Akhil Chaudhary said seven members of the interstate gang were arrested by the Mukandpur police. The seven arrested suspects have been identified as, Tarunjit Singh, alias Tarun (31), Kuldeep Singh, alias Deepa (31), Gurvinder Kumar, alias Ginder (31), Manpreet Singh alias Mani (27), all residents of Musapur in Banga; Gurdeep Singh, alias Sunny (35), a resident of Dugri in Ludhiana, and Himanshu Heer, alias Honey (32), a resident of Basti Jodhewal in Ludhiana.
Meanwhile, four suspects arrested with heroin were identified as, Sonu Chaurasia, Ramandeep Minhas, alias Rammi, Ravi Kumar, all residents of Ludhiana, and Dalveer Singh of Sarai Amanat Khan in Tarn Taran.
