7 months on, Cong MP Randhawa’s kin surrenders in double-murder case

Bubby, a resident of the same village, had been evading arrest since the incident. Muktsar SSP Abhimanyu Rana confirmed that Ravinder Singh surrendered in a court on Monday. The court sent him to four-day police custody.

Randhawa’s father-in-law Nachattarpal Singh got anticipatory bail from the high court recently and has since joined the police investigation, said a police officer.

Vinay’s daughter Shazia Partap Brar had lodged an FIR on April 20, naming villager Davinder Singh, alias Rana, and an unidentified accomplice as the shooters, and alleging that Nachattarpal and Bubby hatched the conspiracy.

Rana surrendered in a Malout court on April 21. Thereafter, the police nominated his alleged accomplice, Karanpal Singh of Gurusar Jodha village, and arrested him. Later, two more suspects, Major Singh and his son Sukha, both farm labourers, were named in the FIR and arrested as well.

A case under Sections 103 and 62 of the BNS and Sections 25 and 27 of the Arms Act, was registered at the Malout City police station.
