75 mohalla clinics in Punjab to be functional from Aug 15
Chandigarh, July 26
Health and Family Welfare Minister Chetan Singh Jouramajra today said the ambitious mohalla clinic project of the AAP government would provide the best healthcare services to the underserved population.
Addressing a press conference at Punjab Bhawan, Jouramajra said fulfilling another major poll promise and to reform the health system in the state, CM Bhagwant Mann-led government would operationalise 75 mohalla clinics on Independence Day to provide free treatment to people.
The Health Minister said by the end of this fiscal, 109 mohalla clinics would be set up. “After the opening of these clinics, people will get emergency treatment near their houses. They will have to visit big hospitals, miles away in cities, only if they have to undergo a major surgery. Consequently, these clinics will reduce the burden on the government hospitals across the state,” he added.
