8 people from Dera Bassi test coronavirus positive; 37 active cases in Mohali

Of 157 people infected in the district, 117 have been cured; 3 have died

Eight people from Dera Bassi tested coronavirus positive on Saturday. With this the total number of infected people in Mohali district has reached 157.

Seven of these are females. They include five children up to 14 years of age. They are all residents of Mubarakpur Camp near Dera Bassi and have been admitted to the Covid Care Centre at Gian Sagar Hospital in Banur.

Civil Surgeon Dr Manjit Singh said they are the close contacts of the 43-year-old man who had returned from Delhi on May 24 and tested coronavirus positive.

He said health teams had been rushed to Mubarakpur Camp to establish the contacts of the two families and seal the area.

Dr Singh said 117 people had been cured in the district. Three people had died and there were 37 active cases in the district, he said.
