The police have arrested eight smugglers who were involved in the illegal business of selling heroin, narcotic pills and liquor.
According to details, a police party of the CIA Staff, Baghapurana, during patrolling intercepted a car near Chotian village. During a search of the two occupants of the car, at least 35-gram heroin was recovered from the possession of Amandeep Singh, alias Aman, and 25-gram heroin from Lakhwinder Singh, alias Saba.
In another incident, a police party of the Kot Ise Khan police station arrested Devinder Pal Singh and Gurpreet Singh Gopi from near Manawan village and recovered 1,000 intoxicating pills from them.
Another police party of the Baghapurana police station arrested Manpreet Singh and recovered 190 intoxicating pills from him.
Police officials said criminal cases under the NDPS Act had been registered against all of them at the respective police stations and further investigations were in progress.
A police party of the Dharamkot police station during patrolling arrested Paramjit Singh Pamma and recovered 50 bottles of illicit liquor from him.
Similarly, a police party of the Mehana police station arrested Balwant Singh, alias Banta, and recovered nine bottles of illicit liquor from him. Another police party of the Samalsar police station arrested Sukhmandar Singh, alias Gora, and recovered eight bottles of illicit liquor from him.
