Tarn Taran: The Excise Department on Friday launched a search operation in Mand area and seized 82,000 litres of lahan and 200 litres of illicit liquor. Excise Officer Navjot Bhatri said the search was carried out in Marar and Kirian villages along the Beas. The team also seized 18 tarpaulins, 11 iron and seven plastic drums. OC

Minister warns erring officers

Muktsar: Cabinet Minister Dr Baljit Kaur posted on her Facebook page that some officers who were instructed to resolve the problems in waterlogged areas have failed to address the issues. She said she would revisit the areas and take stern action against errant officials. TNS

Crop diversification plan

Chandigarh: Agriculture Minister Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal on Friday held a meeting with officials of the department. He said experts are welcome to suggest alternative solutions to wheat and paddy. A roadmap is being prepared by the government to promote tissue culture in vegetables and fruit cultivation.
