The police conducted raids at 339 locations across the state on Wednesday, leading to the arrest of 84 drug smugglers and the registration of 70 FIRs. With this, the number of total drug smugglers arrested under the “Yudh Nashian Virudh” campaign has reached 39,984 in 284 days.
Today’s raids resulted in the seizure of 4 kg ICE, 1.7 kg heroin, 50 gm opium, 33 kg poppy husk, 965 intoxicant pills and Rs 2,910 drug money from the possession of arrested drug smugglers.
The state government has also constituted a five-member Cabinet sub-committee led by Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema to monitor the drive.
Over 120 police teams, comprising over 1,000 police personnel, under the supervision of 68 gazetted officers, conducted raids across the state.
