The police have destroyed around 90,000 litres of illicit liquor, which they found stored along the Gang (Bikaner) canal.
The Deputy Commissioner Excise, Jaskaran Singh Brar, said they had taken taken the help of cops from Khuyiansarwer police station and the Rajasthan Police.
Assistant Commissioner Excise RS Romana said they were keeping a tab on illicit liquor trade in the area. He said there was a dense tree cover on the banks of the canal and bootleggers had dug deep pits. Romana said a joint operation was launched near Tootwala village and they destroyed around 90,000 liters of illicit liquor stored alongside the canal.
In another incident, Excise Inspector Harjit Singh along with the Abohar sadar police recovered 500 litres of illicit liquor along the banks of the Abohar Branch canal near Chanankhera village. – OC
