Abohar: The police on Wednesday seized 45 kg of poppy husk by intercepting a car that had Haryana registration and was using the flag of a farmers’ organisation. The accused belonged to Fazilka and Ferozepur district. Driver Darshan Singh (42) from Fazilka, Sher Singh (36) of Jalla Lakhe Ke Hithar village in Jalalabad and Kala Singh (33) of Tharasingh Wala Hithar in Ferozepur were arrested. During interrogation, it was found that on way back to Punjab, the accused allegedly arranged the poppy husk from a hotel at Baap in Jodhpur district. They used the flag of a faction of the Bhartiya Kisan Union to mislead cops. In another incident, 54 kg of poppy husk was seized by intercepting a car near the Indira Gandhi canal. — OC
