SAD leader Bikram Singh Majithia on Tuesday accused the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the Congress of colluding with each other to indulge in political theatrics over statements, instead of working to improve the law and order situation in the state.

In a statement, the SAD leader said politics had taken precedence ever since Leader of Opposition Partap Singh Bajwa made a statement on the grenade blasts in the state. “After registering a case against Bajwa under the IT Act on flimsy grounds, CM Bhagwant Mann has claimed that he has links with terrorists in Pakistan. Now, Punjab AAP president Aman Arora has come out with a purported letter written 11-12 years back.”

Asking the AAP government to pay attention to governance instead of indulging in such dramas, Majithia said, “It is a fact that 17 grenade blasts have occurred in the state besides disturbing incidents like vandalism of statues of BR Ambedkar, attack on Thakurdwara temple in Jalandhar and a grenade blast at the residence of BJP leader Manoranjan Kalia.”

He added that extortion had become an common affair and people were afraid of venturing out after dark. “Efforts should be made to control the law-and-order situation, instead of playing politics on this issue,” Majithia added.
