The issue of the cleaning of village ponds led to a heated exchange between the treasury and Opposition benches as the Congress alleged that the model being propagated by the government was a bid by the ruling AAP to promote its own leader.
Later taking to the media outside the House, LoP Partap Singh Bajwa alleged that the government was propagating the “Seechewal model” only to “promote” its Rajya Sabha member Balbir Singh Seechewal. He also alleged that the model was a “complete failure” as CM Bhagwant Mann had fallen ill after drinking water from the Kali Bein and had to be hospitalised.
“Instead, the government should engage institutions like PEC and Thapar Engineering College in Patiala,” he said.
Earlier, Bajwa had a heated argument with Health Minister Balbir Singh over the cleaning of village ponds. The minister said the model was based on scientific principals and Bajwa should apologise for casting aspersions on the environmentalist.
