AAP leader Jarnail Singh has stirred a controversy by alleging that the SAD is receiving preferential treatment in government offices, while the ruling party’s own leaders, whom he described as the “owners of the government”, are left waiting outside.

Jarnail expressed his frustration while waiting outside the Deputy Commissioner’s office today. In a live social media broadcast, he criticised DC Showkat Ahmad Parray and accused him of being inaccessible. Jarnail declared, “Assi sarkar de malak hunne aa (we are owners of the government)”.

He claimed that for two days, family members of a freedom fighter had been waiting outside the DC’s office, but they were not allowed to meet. He also accused the DC of prioritising a meeting with an SAD delegation and ignoring public.

As the video went viral, the DC dismissed the allegations as baseless. He said he was preoccupied with meetings, including mediating between farmers protesting at the Shambhu border and a delegation of the Ambala administration.

Parray said he arrived at the office at 9 am and worked till 5 or 6 pm. On Thursday, the National Commission for Scheduled Castes had arranged a public hearing, for which its members were present in his office. Additionally, Army officials and a delegation led by Surjit Singh Rakhra had pre-scheduled meetings. The DC emphasised that due to the importance of such meetings, people had to wait sometimes, which was unavoidable.
