AAP MLA Kunwar Vijay Partap seeks special sitting of Punjab Vidhan Sabha on sacrilege, police firing cases
Raking up the issue of sacrilege and subsequent police firing, in the Punjab Vidhan Sabha on Wednesday, AAP MLA Kunwar Vijay Pratap Singh sought tabling of the SIT report related to the police firing that took place at Behbal Kalan and Kotkapura in 2015, following protests over sacrilege incidents.
The MLA, who in the past has been taking on his own government, sought a special one-day sitting of Punjab Vidhan Sabha to debate on sacrilege incidents and subsequent police firing incidents.
During zero hour, he reminded the house that six years had passed since the Punjab Vidhan Sabha through a resolution had decided to withdraw investigation on the sacrilege issue from the CBI and form a SIT to probe it.
Hitting out at the then SAD-BJP government led by former CM Parkash Singh Badal and the Congress government led by Capt Amarinder Singh, he said the people of Punjab should know who all botched up the investigations that ultimately led to the SIT report on the police firing being dismissed by the high court. Now the report is not part of the court proceedings and it can be tabled in the house, he said.
He said those defending the culprits behind the sacrilege and inflicting atrocities on the protesters are no more part of the elected representatives of the house.
“The Waheguru’s court has given them punishment. Justice must be given to Sikh sangat,” he reminded his own government.
He reminded the House that ADGP Parmod Kumar and ADGP Arun Pal Singh did not write a single case diary during the SIT probe and he was the only one to write the case diary.
Later, speaking in the House, CM Bhagwant Mann said during the course of investigation new facts had come to light in the sacrilege incidents and these would be added to the FIR related to the sacrilege.
