AAP’s Ishank files papers from Chabbewal

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) candidate Dr Ishank Kumar filed nomination papers for the Chabbewal Assembly byelection today.

He was the first candidate to file nomination papers for this byelection. His father, MP Hoshiarpur Dr Raj Kumar, filed nomination as covering candidate.

He was accompanied by his father, Cabinet minister Dr Ravjot, former minister Brahm Shankar Jimpa and MLA Kamarbir Singh Ghumman.

After filing the papers, Ishank returned to Chabbewal to address his supporters at the party office. He said that he was fully committed to the development of Chabbewal.

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.

Restraint and moderation, rather than agitational language and partisanship, are the hallmarks of the newspaper. It is an independent newspaper in the real sense of the term.

The Tribune has two sister publications, Punjabi Tribune (in Punjabi) and Dainik Tribune (in Hindi).
