In a move to support the police administration’s zero-tolerance approach to combating anti-social elements, the Beopar Mandal Abohar, led by President Suresh Satija, today provided CCTV cameras to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Sukhwinder Singh Brar. These cameras will be installed at Vir Haqiqat Rai Chowk, a key location that connects the old grain market and Krishna Nagari on the west circular road in Abohar.
DSP Sukhwinder Singh Brar welcomed the gesture, emphasising that the installation of cameras in the market will help deter criminal activity and enhance the safety of traders. He assured that these cameras would enable the police to immediately track and control anti-social elements in case of any crime. He also encouraged other trade unions in the city to follow suit and install CCTV cameras in their respective areas.
Mandal chief Suresh Satija shared that he had coordinated with local pesticide, seed, and fertiliser vendors to install cameras at their businesses. A list of cameras installed at approximately 100 shops in the old grain market, along with their contact details, was also provided to the DSP.
The Beopar Mandal has specifically adopted Vir Haqiqat Rai Chowk for surveillance, where CCTV cameras and DVRs have been installed under the supervision of DSP Brar. Satija further appealed to other business unions in the city to install similar security measures in their areas.
