Abohar college creates history by winning PU Zonal Youth Festival overall trophy for 11th consecutive time

The event was held among 31 BEd colleges from Fazilka, Muktsar, Ferozepur and Moga districts

DAV College of Education, Abohar, has made history by winning the overall trophy for the eleventh consecutive time at the Punjab University Zonal Youth and Heritage Festival (Zone-B). The four-day festival concluded here last night.

In this competitive event held among 31 BEd colleges from Fazilka, Muktsar, Ferozepur and Moga districts, the hosts, DAV College of Education, Abohar, secured the top position in the points table by winning a total of 48 prizes. Dev Samaj College of Education, Ferozepur, secured the second position and DM College of Education, Moga, achieved the third spot.

Organising Secretary of the programme Ajay Khosla said that the students of DAV College of Education, Abohar, secured first place in bhajan, bhajan (individual), group dance general, group dance general (individual), giddha, giddha (individual), folk dance, bhangra, bhangra (individual), skit, histrionics, poetry recitation, kavishari, creative writing (short story), creative writing (essay), cartooning, poster making, rangoli, clay modelling, on-the-spot painting, handwriting (English) and handwriting (Punjabi) competitions.

Dr Vijay Grover, the officiating principal of the college, expressed pride in this achievement hoping that they would continue to uphold this glorious and rich tradition in the times to come.

Colonel SPR Gaba (Retd) and Dr Sukhjinder Rishi (Director, Youth Welfare Department, Panjab University) were present as chief guests at the programme's award distribution ceremony. Dr Tejinder Singh Gill (Assistant Director, Youth Welfare Department, Punjab University) graced the event as a special guest.
