The police said the arrests have been made on the basis of the interrogation of Jaswinder Singh, alias Jassi, who was arrested earlier with two lakh drug money on July 6.

Official sources said interrogation of Jassi of Salempura village indicated he was in contact with smugglers from Punjab as well as Pakistan. Numbers of smugglers from the state and Pakistan were found on his phone. The police said he sent the location of the border area several times to these numbers to get heroin consignments. They said Jassi was earlier caught in 2019 in the Gharsana area with a large quantity of illegal narcotic pills.

The police said Rai Kaka’s number was also found on Jassi’s mobile phone, while links with another smuggler from Punjab were also found. They said he was also in contact with a Pakistani smuggler, Chhinda King, and the latter’s number was found saved as Chhinda King PK.

Police officials said that about 15 days before being caught, Jassi had sent a location near the border to Rai Kaka. They said the narcotics were supposed to be delivered via drones on July 5 and the suspect was asked to take the consignment to the Fazilka bus stand. Police officials said Jassi was to be paid Rs 2 lakh for this work, and further links in the case were being investigated.
