The state government has reinstated and posted Surinder Singh Dhillon as the Muktsar Additional Deputy Commissioner (Development).

Dhillon, who is currently out on bail, assumed office on Tuesday.
“I was reinstated last week and posted as the Additional Deputy Commissioner (Development), Muktsar, on Monday. I assumed charge today. I have done nothing wrong. The case against me is pending, but the court has granted me bail,” said Dhillon.
Dhillon was arrested for allegedly embezzling funds from Rs 285 crore allocated for compensation against the land acquired for the Amritsar-Kolkata Corridor project, when he was posted as the District Development and Panchayat Officer (DDPO) in Patiala in 2022.
He was booked in the case on May 26, 2022, and arrested on October 26 last year.
He faces charges under Sections 406, 420, 409, 465, 467, 120-B of the IPC and various provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act.

Dhillon had previously served as the Block Development and Panchayat Officer (BDPO) in Lambi during the SAD-BJP government.
