Ahead of civic bodies’ poll, 9 IAS officers transferred

With rural and urban poll round the corner, the Punjab Government today changed the administrative heads of the Rural Development and Panchayats Department and the Local Government Department.
Nine senior IAS officers were issued posting and transfer orders today, in what is seen as the first civil administration reshuffle after the Lok Sabha elections.
Additional Chief Secretary Tejveer Singh has been given charge of the Local Government Department, relieving Ajoy Sharma of the charge. Sharma has also been relieved of the charge of the Health Department and given the charge of the Tourism and Cultural Affairs and Forest and Wildlife Department. Amit Dhaka had the charge of Administrative Secretary, Tourism Department.
Kumar Rahul has been given the charge of the Health Department. His charge of the Jails Department is now with Alok Shekhar, who also gets charge of the Animal Husbandry, Dairy Development and Fisheries Department.
Dilraj Singh, who already has the administrative charge of the Transport and Parliamentary Affairs Departments, now also gets the charge of the Rural Development Department.
Rahul Tiwari, who was handling the Science and Technology Department, has been given a new role as the administrative head of the Housing and Urban Development Department and the Power Department. Till now, the Housing Department was with Chief Secretary Anurag Verma.
Gurpreet Kaur Sapra has been relieved of the charge of Jalandhar Commissioner and given charge as Ropar Commissioner, besides being given administrative charge of the Personnel and General Administration. Pradeep Kumar is the new Commissioner of Jalandhar.
