Amritsar, February 14

Due to ongoing farm protests leading to restrictions on the land route, the Amritsar-New Delhi airfare has seen a six times increase.

On normal days, the fare ranged between Rs 3,500-4,000 one-way per seat. Yet, it has skyrocketed to Rs 12,000-25,000.

There are three airlines, Air India, Vistara and Indigo, which operate 10 direct flights between Amritsar and Delhi.

On February 14, Indigo, Vistara and Air India charged between Rs 12,500-17,000 per head. For February 15, the one-way fare would be between Rs 8401-24,856 for Amritsar-Delhi route.

FlyAmritsar Initiative has appealed to the Ministry of Urban Aviation to intervene as soon as possible to arrange additional domestic flights between Amritsar-Delhi for a few days.
