Akal Takht Jathedar condemns discriminatory treatment of Tamil Sikh advocate by Air India
He demanded that Air India make the full details of the probe into this incident public in the interest of transparency
Giani Kuldip Singh Gargaj, the officiating Jathedar of Akal Takht, strongly condemned the discriminatory treatment faced by Tamil Sikh and Supreme Court lawyer Jeevan Singh at the New Delhi airport by the Air India staff. Gargaj expressed deep concern that despite commemorating Guru Teg Bahadur’s 350th martyrdom anniversary, Sikhs in India continue to face such humiliation. The incident has deeply hurt the sentiments of Sikhs across India and abroad.
While Air India has issued a written apology to Jeevan Singh via email, Gargaj emphasised that this does not absolve the airline of its responsibility. He demanded that Air India make the full details of the probe into this incident public in the interest of transparency and clarify what action has been taken against the staff members responsible.
